It was a sunny 2017 HMK Children’s Water Festival

We had a beautiful sunny HMK Children’s Water Festival this year! Two whole days of sunshine where 1088 elementary students from the Trillium Lakelands District School Board learned about water in a fun hands on way! 47 activity centres were spread across the autumn Kinark Outdoor Centre grounds where children spent their time actively learning outside about water, one of our most valuable natural resources! It was wonderful to see so many excited young water heroes leaving with such big smiles!

Thank you to all our sponsors, Outside Presenters and volunteers who help make this quality event such a success!

We are now in the midst of the Big Splash Contest! Students are now challenged to work with others in their classes and schools to come up with creative ways that they/we can positively affect our water and waterways. The school that enters the most “water saving” ideas will be presented with the Big Splash award in the New Year. The Big Splash award will have the school’s name engraved onto it and will be hosted at the winning school until the 2018 water festival. This is a great way to help promote school pride and water stewardship together!

Teachers can enter their students ideas by going to our water heroes website and submitting the ideas, http://waterheroes.ca/share-your-ideas/.
